Why join APA Division 15 - Educational Psychology?
The mission of Division 15 is to expand psychological knowledge and theory relevant to education, to extend the application of psychological knowledge and services to all aspects of education, to develop professional opportunities in educational psychology, to further the development of psychological theory through the study of educational processes, and to promote cooperation and joint action with others having similar or related purposes. Division 15 members include approximately 1300 psychologists, allied scientists, students, and others who share a common interest in research on the psychological aspects of learning and schooling. They represent 25 countries. Division 15 had a strong commitment to junior scholars (both doctoral students and early career psychologists, who we support through mentoring seminars. We provide singular recognition for senior scholars, sponsor special publications (such as the Handbook of Educational Psychology) and conferences on special topics relevant to our members (such as on the Teaching Educational Psychology).

You do NOT need to be a member of the American Psychological Association to be a member of Division 15. However, there are several benefits to becoming a member of APA:
APA represents the largest and most visible national presence advocating for psychology at the federal level. APA is responsible for all association efforts on behalf of its many science-oriented constituencies. Our broad mission is to communicate, facilitate, promote and represent psychological science and scientists. Part of the Education Directorate, this office seeks to increase federal support for psychology education and training and to promote the application of psychology to education and training. The Public Interest Government Relations Office actively engages in shaping federal policy to promote psychology in the public interest. Issue areas include: aging; children, youth, and families; individuals with disabilities; ethnic minority affairs; HIV/AIDS; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues; socioeconomic status; and women’s issues.
